White - Water Rafting in Kenya is a totally unique experience - Thrills. Spills, bird and game viewing all in one waterborne safari. Join us on the Tana, Athi, Muthaiga or Ewaso - Nyiro Rivers from 1 to 3 days for an adventure holiday with a difference.
1 Day - Muthaiga River The Muthaiga is a narrow, low volume river but fast flowing with many rapids some technically very difficult (class 4 and 5). It has a useable distance of about 22km with a 450m descent. Available daily at 0800hrs - return by 1730hrs. Lunch and drinks will be carried on the boats. Rafting is possible for the full 450 km of the river which will take you from Nairobi to the coast at Malindi. This normally take about 21 days but more frequently an 80 km section is used which covers the best of scenery with medium grade white-water rafting. This section borders Tsavo National Park and so wildlife is plenty with Giraffe, Buffalo and Elephant often seen. Our river programmes include a professional and experienced guide in command of each boat. Full river briefings and specific briefing before each set of major rapids. Top quality equipment and comprehensive safety and first aid equipment. Cameras and video equipment will be carried in water proof boxes. NB: The lower age limit is 14, with parental consent. There is no upper limit as it is dependent on fitness and health. With the exception of the Muthaiga North River no previous rafting experience is necessary. Accommodation will be in small 2 man tents with air and sleeping bags provided. Three meals per day are provided on safari; English breakfast, cold lunch and 5 course dinner with starter, soup, barbecued main meal with vegetables, fruits and coffee. All food is cooked over a wood fire by the guides.
